A Special Clothes Pin Holder
I know that many of you don't hang out your clothes. In fact, of the four sisters, only myself and my youngest sister do. My other two sisters never have. My Mom always did and so did my grandmother. I guess we inherited it from them.
I think there is nothing better than crawling into bed with sheets that have been hung outside to dry. Even hubby, ohhs and ahhs at the scent and feel of them.
So when I was in Pittsburgh last month, my sister said her clothes pin bag had fallen apart. I thought I would make her something special.
I had made one for myself, but not nice like this one. I saw some pretty ones on Pinterest so I used my pattern and some Pinterest ideas.
The vintage wooden hanger was mine but it worked so perfect on this one that I gave it to her.
To get started, I went to my fabric stash and pulled out all sorts of things. For the base, I chose drop cloth material. I pulled some different laces out. The one in the middle is a vintage piece. The round white one at the top left, is one that I made years ago. I added a vintage button to the center of that one.
I am not sure where I got the lace butterfly but it seemed to work on this piece.
I had this stencil of letters so I added Wash Day. I had to go over the letters freehand to make them stand out.
On the bottom, I added this lace ruffle just across the front. It still needed something else so I found some brown print material and attached it above the lace.
My sister was so excited, but said she didn't want to use it - it was too pretty. She just hung it in her laundry room for now. Silly girl!
