Let me tell you about a problem I have. I love to eat. You probably do too. I mean who doesn’t? Be it beautifully seasoned potato salads, golden roasties, greasy cheesy chips and gravy (my fellow northerners get me!) sticky rice dishes- okay, I’m going to stop before I start drooling on the keyboard.
Let me tell you another problem I have; I’m lazy, ( I’m British, so sue me) when it comes to food. It’s just sooo much effort thinking up meal plans, what ingredients you’ll need? God forbid you don’t have the ingredients and have to go to the shop for them, but it’s a wet day, you’re in your comfies. You end up having the argument with yourself about should you shouldn’t you? Do you really want to go through all the effort of putting on underwear? today? a rainy day? a comfy day! If only you’d thought this through! Planned ahead. The despair when you’re craving those golden, fluffy roasties- but you didn’t get potatoes in your last shop.
See, because I’m so lazy I didn’t plan this far ahead. I didn’t plan for these comfy clothes days. I would be doomed in any survival situation. And if, in some miraculous way you do manage to get to the shop, You think to yourself I’ll get a few extra bits and bobs while I’m here. I won’t ruin a comfy day again ( I take them very seriously) then you find yourself looking at all these vegetables, all this packaging, so many different types of cheeses. You have a food blank. Your brain shuts off for the day. ( it’s debatable whether it was really on from the get-go really). You’re looking at all these ingredients and can’t put a meal together. At the end of it all you’re back on the sofa, comfies on of course (I’m not an animal) with dinner medals from the beans on toast you gave in to and tucking into a mega chocolate multi-pack.
Something has to change! There’s no way we can be comfortable and confident in our selves, if we stay like this.
Now I enjoy Yoga. Sometimes I feel like pushing the boat out, get fit! so I buy some workout equipment, which I maybe use the first week they arrive, until the novelty wears off them. They end up under the stairs or tucked far, far back in the wardrobe. Collecting dust and cobwebs, and you don’t touch them again, partly because of the cob webs. With cobwebs come spiders.
