54 Million Americans Are Facing Food Insecurity—Here’s How To Start a Community Fridge in Your Neighborhood

More than 54 million Americans are experiencing food insecurity as a result of COVID-19. For 40 percent of these individuals, it’s for the first time. While organizations and federal programs like Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) are helping, due to the growing demand, food banks and pantries are picking up much of the slack.
